DIY Rustic Decorations

This post is all about DIY decorations with a “Rustic” look.  These would be great at any event including bridal showers, baby showers, birthday parties, weddings and more.  All of these crafts are very quick and simple to make…and better yet….inexpensive!  Click on the links in the instructions to purchase materials to make your own!

Paper Doily Banner

You Will Need:

  • 1 Package of Paper Doilies
  • String
  • Scissors
  • Letters for on the banner
    • You can either use pre-cut letters, write your own, or print your own letters off of the computer

Instructions:

  • Decide what you would like to be written on your doily banner.
    • (The paper doilies come in a package of 40 so you have the choice to make multiple banners with just one package!)
  • Create your letters.  If you are making them on the computer, do not make them any larger than 3″ x 3″.
  • Print your letters and cut them out using scissors.
  • (See Image Below) Cut a piece of string that will be long enough for your doilies to span across.  String the doilies through the pre-cut holes and hang your banner wherever you choose!2.JPG
  • Complete the look above with the Doily paper lanterns (Instructions Below), Brown Paper Flowers (Instructions Below), Lace & Burlap Fabric Table Runner and the Printed Wooden Tablecover which you can purchase at the links provided.

 

 

Doily Paper Lanterns

You Will Need:

Instructions:

  • Open the package of White Paper Lanterns and assemble according to the directions.
  • (See Image Below)  Tape your first ring of doilies approximately 1/3 of the way up the lantern. 18
  • (See Image Below)  Continue taping a second row approximately 1/2 of the way up the lantern, followed by a row at the very top.  Your finished decoration should look something like this:19
  • Follow the directions above with the other two lanterns

Kraft Paper Flowers

You Will Need:

Optional Accessories to Complete the Looks Below- 

Instructions:

  • Cut a strip of the Kraft Paper that is approximately 4″ wide.  (This will make a fairly small flower.  If you would like a larger flower, cut a larger strip).
  • (See Image Below)  Fold the paper so that you have one piece that looks like the sample below.
  • (See Image Below)  Use a pencil to draw a petal shape on both ends of the paper.  16.JPG
  • Cut on the pencil lines to get your individual flower petals.
  • (See Image Below)  Arrange the flower petals in a circular pattern and use tape to secure to one another.11.JPG
  • (See Image Below)  Continue with a second layer of petals, overlapping the first.12.JPG
  • (See Image Below)  LAY ONE PETAL ASIDE and use your remaining flower petals to create a third layer.  Finish by placing a loop of tape in the center of your third layer.13.JPG
  • Take the flower petal that you set aside and cut a fringe texture with that piece.
  • (See Image Below)  Loosely roll up a ball with your fringed petal and place in the center of your flower on the tape.15.JPG
  • (See Image Below)  Use a pencil to curl your petals and give them a more realistic look.  Start with the top layer and curl each petal individually. 17.JPG
  • (See Images Below)  You can create a variety of different flower sizes and hang them on a wall, on a table or as embellishments on a chair, basket, etc.  Below are a few examples of different ways to use your flowers.10421 copy
  • Below, we used the Kraft Paper Flower as an embellishment on the end of a table.  This look is paired with the Plastic Lace Tablecover that looks like REAL LACE!  This tablecover is truly elegant looking and would be the perfect accessory for any wedding or shower.20

 

Paper Doily Table Runner

You Will Need:

Optional Accessories to Complete the Looks Below- 

Instructions:

  • Open the three packages of Paper Doilies and lay them out on a flat surface.
  • Decide how long your runner will need to be.
  • Arrange the doilies UPSIDE DOWN to your desired table runner length.
  • (See Image Below)  Tape the doilies together.  Be sure to secure each side of the doily and use plenty of tape so it doesn’t fall apart when you flip the runner over.8.JPG
  • (See Image Below)  Optional – Embellish your runner with a Kraft Paper Flower (Instructions above) and display on any table for a one of a kind, rustic look.3
