Can anyone guess the average cost that couples spend on a wedding in the United States?
According to costofwedding.com, couples are spending an average of $25,764 on their special day…which doesn’t even factor in the cost of a honeymoon! Ouch! Did you know that with a few adjustments to the budget and some DIY projects here & there, you can cut costs on many of the things on your wedding wish list?
It’s undeniable that even at weddings, technology has become a prevalent guest among the crowd. According to pewinternet.com, 95% of Americans own a cell phone, which leads to one thing…PHOTOS. Lots and lots of photos. You don’t need me to tell you that the photo booths have become increasingly popular at weddings…and this doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon.
So, what’s the average cost of a photo booth rental? $400 – $500+, according to thumbtack.com. What can you do to keep within your budget and still have a photo taking station that guests will love?
Here’s a few tips:
- Create your own photo station backdrop
There are lots of inexpensive items that you can use to create photo backdrops. Crepe Streamers, Plastic Tablecovers, Brown Kraft Paper, Tissue Fans, Paper Fans and Paper Flowers are some great examples. (Click on the links to find any of these items, available to purchase).
- Get a photographer OR…
These days, lot’s of people own their own cameras. Rather than hiring a professional photographer for the photo station…“hire” a friend to do the job for the evening. Another option would be to have a camera pre-setup on on a tripod, facing the backdrop. Set the timer, so all your guests need to do is click the button & go stand in place….the camera will do the work itself!
- Purchase a few fun wearables
People love taking silly photos at weddings, wearing all kinds of headwear, masks, beads and other costume accessories. Purchase a few inexpensive options to display on a table for your guests to choose from. There are lots of great options to choose from here.
- Purchase a few photo-fun items
Along the same idea as wearables, photo-fun materials are great options to have for your guests as well. At Beistle, we have three types of photo-fun items…Frames, Signs and Photo Props.
